Every few days I think of something I want to share, but I've been waiting for the new website. Here it is! Expect more blogging down the road. Til then, check out this podcast of Radiolab featuring sound artist William Basinski who creates sound loops from analog tape and, somewhat serendipitously, recorded them looping while they deteriorated. Finally, a positive aspect of sticky shed syndrome.
I'm only a little bummed that my own idea - to play a 45 rpm record to death and record the disintegration of the grooves as the needle digs in - is now passé.
