More Fall 2011 - The Mickey Newbury box set I restored and mastered for Drag City was named Reissue of the Year by Mojo magazine. It made #2 on Uncut's list. No small shakes! The New York Times ran a front page article about the debut album of 85 year old jazz pianist Boyd Lee Dunlop. And NPR aired a great feature about him. Boyd's Blues was produced by Brendon Bannon, recorded and mixed by Allen Farmelo and mastered by me, but the heart and soul is all Boyd.
A few weeks ago, I ran a 10k race. It was my first race, so I used my iPod for training, pacing and to inspire me through those 6+ miles. Figured I'd come clean and share my 10k playlist. Don't knock it til you've passed runners up the hill to Sleigh Bells and crossed the finish line to ABBA's Agnetha Fältskog singing "the winner takes it aaaaaallllllll!".
Fun fact: I mastered two of the songs on this playlist. The Cobra Starship song, which is from the iTunes session they recorded at the Magic Shop, and Neil McLellan's remix of St. Lucia's All Eyes On You.
Thanks you, Tekserve, for playing Ricky Nelson's "Lonesome Town" instead of the the assaulting crap I hear in other stores. I thoroughly enjoyed waiting to pick up my hard drive.
